Lawmakers, support the NY Health Act

Posted

Health care is a concern for all of us.  Many congressional Republicans are eager now to do better for their constituents who will soon be faced with horrendous costs, either because they have no health insurance or because the health insurance they do have is unaffordable.

Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” will drop millions from their health insurance, and when people can’t have ongoing care, they often end up in emergency rooms and we taxpayers foot the bill.

All New Yorkers have the possibility of health insurance through the New York Health Act. It covers more than Medicare; it’s for everyone; it supports rural hospitals, and the money to implement it is all worked out.  What is needed is pressure on state legislators to support it.  It’s time to write or call now, since now is the time they set their legislative priorities.

In Ulster County, call or write Sarahana Shrestha 845/338-9610 or shrestha@nyassembly.gov, or Brian Maher at 845/379-5001 or maherb@nyassembly.gov. In Sullivan County, contact Paula Elaine Kay at 845/794-5807 or kayp@nyassembly.gov. All should call or write to state Sen. Peter Oberacker at 607/432-5524 or oberacker@nysenate.gov.

Please do it today.
