Sullivan County deserves a sheriff with boots-on-the-ground experience, not someone who has been removed from frontline law enforcement and has been sitting behind a desk for decades.
Tim Dymond has exactly the kind of real-world, hands-on experience our community needs. From his early days patrolling the Bronx with the NYPD to his years leading complex narcotics and violent crime investigations with the New York State Police, Tim has always been on the front lines protecting communities—ours included.
I personally have seen the direct benefits of relevant leadership and a culture change. In my 20-plus years working in the City of Newburgh, we had many administrators. When young leadership recently took over, the entire department became energized and refocused on the mission.
He’s not just talking about fighting crime; he’s done it. And that’s a sharp contrast to the current sheriff, Mike Schiff, who hasn’t been in the field in years.
Worse, Schiff sought the Democratic Party endorsement—aligning himself with the same party that brought us bail reform and “defund the police” rhetoric.
It’s clear the current administration is out of touch and behind the times. I have worked major large-scale investigations with Tim, involving gang violence and narcotics distribution. Tim possesses a relentless work ethic and expertise to bring criminals to justice for Sullivan County.
Tim Dymond has earned endorsements from the thousands of law enforcement officers represented by the IUPA, NYSUPA and NYSPIA unions, because they trust his leadership and experience. It’s time for a modern, responsive sheriff’s office.
I’ll proudly be voting for lifelong Republican Tim Dymond. I urge others to do the same.
