NARROWSBURG, NY — The Ruffed Grouse Gallery will present “Kevin Kinkead | Mike Seccareccia: Paintings” at the gallery, 144 Main St. An opening reception will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, November 7.
The exhibition brings together two longtime New York artists “whose distinct approaches to abstraction share an interest in expressive form, color and composition,” the gallery wrote.
“Both graduates of the Swain School of Design, the artists have followed individual creative paths that have intersected over the years. In the late 1990s, a chance encounter on a New York subway train led to their working together at the Brooklyn Museum. Now reunited in this two-person exhibition, their paintings offer a lively dialogue between spontaneity and structure, figuration and abstraction.”
The exhibition will remain on view through January 10, 2027.
Originally working figuratively in oil, Kinkead has spent the past 15 years concentrating on smaller-scale abstract works, primarily using gouache, ink and acrylic, the gallery wrote.
Seccareccia’s “varied career has included exhibiting in New York and Provincetown and working in art conservation on paintings by major modern masters… [He] has developed an abstract painting practice rooted in biomorphic forms, automatic drawing and improvisation.”
