Just a coincidence

Posted

Recently, there has been some discussion about the fact that President Trump and his sons have made well over $2 billion while he has been the president this past year.  Even the Wall Street Journal had a critical editorial implying that he has used the office of the presidency to make money.

The president has stated that he, like other presidents, does not take part in making personal financial decisions (such as stock trades) and does not know what the people handling his money are doing.  So I guess his money handlers are doing a great job.  They also seem to be helped by a few coincidences.

For example, Donald Trump Jr. bought shares in Vulcan Elements, and three months later the company was given a $620 million loan by the Pentagon.  Eric Trump invested in a mining company in Kazakhstan right before the administration announced a minerals agreement with that company.

In another coincidence, the president received capital gains from his shares in M.P. Materials after the Pentagon announced it was taking a 15 percent share in the company. Another coincidence.

President Trump recently awarded a no-bid multimillion-dollar contract to repair the reflecting pool to a gentleman who coincidentally is a neighbor and a large donor to the president’s campaigns.  Of course, all of the above is in addition to the profits made from his cryptocurrency ventures, meme coins, Bibles, etc.

I read somewhere that presidents Washington and Jefferson were poorer when they left office than when they went in.  I guess they just weren’t lucky enough to have as many coincidences.
