WAYMART, PA — Brandon Sharpe, 30, an inmate at the federal prison in Waymart, PA, passed away on Sunday, July 27, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
At around 12 a.m. on July 27, Sharpe was found unresponsive. Responding employees began life-saving measures, while Emergency Medical Services were requested. Sharpe was transported by EMS to a local hospital and subsequently pronounced dead by hospital personnel.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation was notified. No employees or other incarcerated individuals were injured and at no time was the public in danger.
Sharpe had been sentenced in the Eastern District of Michigan to a 60-month sentence for Possession of a Machine Gun. He had been in custody at USP Canaan since July 23, 2025, four days prior.
