SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY — As part of the southern hunting zone, Sullivan County follows these hunting dates according to the NYS:
Early Bowhunting - October 1 to November 15
Crossbow - November 2 to November 15
Regular - November 16 to December 8
Late Bowhunting - December 9 to December 17 and December 26 to Januarary 1, 2025
What are legal hunting hours in NYS?
In NYS hunting hours for deer begin 30 minutes prior to sunrise and 30 minutes after sunset as set by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
Hunt Safe, Hunt Smart!
Hunt only during hunting hours, 30 minutes before sunrise through 30 minutes after sunset
Hunters who harvest deer are required by law to report their harvest within seven days.
Assume every firearm to be loaded.
Control the muzzle in a safe direction.
Keep your finger off the trigger until firing.
Be sure of your target and beyond.
Wear fluorescent orange or fluorescent pink.
Fluorescent orange or pink not only improves visibility and safety, wearing these colors is also required when hunting big game with a firearm.
