Honesdale chooses Llewellyn for vacant council seat

HONESDALE BOROUGH, PA — On Monday, July 20, the Honesdale Borough Council chose Larissa Ann Llewellyn to fill a vacancy in its ranks, caused by the resignation of former council president Tiffany Rogers.

Llewellyn has a background in the construction industry and serves as the safety director for Pioneer. She stood in the 2025 borough council elections, and had previously applied for a vacant seat earlier that year. She said safety is a top priority for her, particularly from what she has seen walking Honesdale's streets with her children.

"This is my third time standing here, so I think everybody kind of knows about me now," she said.

The council chose Llewellyn in a 5-1 vote, with James Brennan casting the sole 'no' vote.

Five other people applied for the position: James Cordaro, Dene Hayes, Candy Manby, Sean Block and Patrick McKenna.

Reorganization

Following the choosing of Llewellyn, the council voted on its president, vice president and president pro-tem positions. The president chairs borough council meetings; in the absence of the president, the vice president chairs; in the absence of both the president pro-tem chairs. (In the absence of all three, if there's still a quorum, the members present can elect a pro-tem from their ranks.)

Council chose Pat Resti as president, Kim Fisch as vice president and William McAllister as president pro tem.

Resti thanked the council for the vote of confidence. "Hopefully this year we will all work united, continue to do the best we can for the taxpayers of the town and let everybody know that we are together and we do care about the village," he said.

Honesdale Borough Council, Honesdale
