High speed chase on I-84 leads to arrest

BLOOMING GROVE — On December 29, 2024, at approximately 8:24 pm, Pennsylvania State Trooper Thomas Rehberg attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Interstate 84 west near mile marker 32 in Blooming Grove Township, (Pike County, PA) for numerous vehicle code violations. 

The vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued. The operator turned off the lights on the vehicle and accelerated at a high rate of speed weaving around other vehicles. The vehicle then drove to get off at Exit 30 (Blooming Grove).

The vehicle continued straight through the stop sign at State Route 402 and I-84 and then returned to I-84 west. Trooper Rehberg lost sight of the vehicle and terminated the pursuit. 

Trooper Rehberg then arrived at the vehicle's registered owner's address located in Greentown, PA.

The driver, Dakota Brandt, (19, M) was identified and admitted to his actions. 

According to the police report, numerous indicators of impairment were present. Brandt was taken into custody and transported to Pennsylvania State Police Blooming Grove barracks. 

Brandt was then lodged at Pike County Correctional Facility pending arraignment for the following charges: VC 3733(a) (Felony 3), 5104 (Misdemeanor 2), 3802(d2) (Misdemeanor), 2705 (Misdemeanor 2), and numerous summary offenses.
