You recently ran what appeared to be an article on Congressman Josh Riley’s Town Hall meeting here in Sullivan County (River Reporter, October 30-November 5). It was instead a letter to the editor from one individual. The blaring headline that Riley refused to allow someone to be heard was misleading.
If your readers view the video link that was attached, they will see that the Congressman was trying to speak to the woman, but she refused to stop yelling and allow him to respond.
Instead of reporting on our Congressman’s efforts to hold health care costs down and to be responsive to local concerns by holding a town hall here in Sullivan County, you left the impression that the highlight of the meeting was this interaction with one person in the audience.
That is not what I would have expected of your publication: a fair and balanced report on the purpose of and important information provided by the Congressman during this briefing.
