It is difficult to take Paige Cognetti seriously when she attacks Congressman Rob Bresnahan for being successful while conveniently ignoring her own privileged background.

Mayor Cognetti is a former Goldman Sachs banker who has spent years portraying herself as a champion of the “little guy.” Yet reports recently surfaced that she owns a second home near Elk Mountain that was not included on her financial disclosure forms. For someone who constantly lectures others about transparency and accountability, that omission raises legitimate questions.

What makes this especially hypocritical is her attempt to criticize Congressman Bresnahan for his business success and financial standing. Since when did achieving success become something to apologize for? Northeastern Pennsylvania has always respected hard work, entrepreneurship and people who create jobs in their communities.

If Mayor Cognetti wants to live an affluent lifestyle, that is her right. But she should stop pretending she is somehow above the very success and wealth she condemns in others. She cannot attack Congressman Bresnahan for his accomplishments while hiding her own luxury ski property in the mountains from public view. Paige needs to stop throwing stones at glass houses.
