MONTICELLO — At 5:22 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025 Sullivan 911 received a call reporting a fire at 294 East Broadway, Monticello Police arrived reported heavy fire from the second floor of a commercial structure at 294 East Broadway.
Monticello firefighters responded and Engine 22-12 reported heavy fire and requested a resound. Asst. Chief Jim Gerrard arrived at 05:27 requesting manpower from Rock Hill, Fast Team from Town of Bethel and Tanker Task Force Alarm to supplement the Monticello Water System.
The fire at 300 East Broadway was a vacant commercial structure with upstairs apartments. The occupancy of the apartments is unknown at this time. Fire investigators remain at the scene.
Responding fire companies assisting at scene were Rock Hill, Fallsburg, Liberty, Forestburgh, Woodridge, Loch Sheldrake, Swan Lake, Grahamsville and Kauneonga Lake. Port Jervis Fire was on standby in Monticello and Wurtsboro Fire on standby in Rock Hill. Sullivan County REHAB Team was activated to scene as well as Sullivan County Fire Investigators, Empress Ambulance, Senior Care EMS, Monticello Police and Sullivan County Sheriff's Deputies.
Monticello units were back in service at 09:40am.
