I’m writing to share a consumer issue that I believe may be of interest, involving a lost FedEx package and what appears to be a broader pattern of misdelivery and failed buyer protection.
I purchased an item through eBay that was shipped via FedEx. FedEx marked the package as “delivered,” but it was never delivered to my home. The delivery photo provided by FedEx does not show my house, porch, mailbox or any identifiable feature of my property—only a package left in the snow at an unknown location. The tracking information also does not confirm delivery to my address.
Despite this, both eBay and PayPal denied my claims, relying solely on the “delivered” scan—even though neither company has provided proof that the package was delivered to me or to my address. In doing so, they have not complied with their own buyer protection policies, which require confirmation of delivery to the buyer’s address, not just a carrier scan.
Since this incident, several neighbors have come forward to tell me they have experienced similar issues with FedEx packages marked “delivered” but never received. I have emails from neighbors documenting these experiences, suggesting this is not an isolated incident.
I have retained all documentation related to my case, including delivery photos, tracking records, correspondence with FedEx, eBay and PayPal, as well as written statements from neighbors. Despite weeks of effort, there has been no accountability from any party, and I am left without the item or reimbursement.
I believe this situation reflects a larger consumer issue: misdelivery being treated as successful delivery, and buyer protection systems failing when consumers can clearly show that items were never delivered to their homes.
