ELDRED, NY — “Greetings From Here,” an art exhibit at Sullivan Public, had a well attended opening reception on Saturday, April 5 at the community art space.
The exhibit features a handful of local artists’ photos, prints and other artwork highlighting the history and current form of Sullivan County and the Catskills.
“There was something really special about this show. Maybe it was the subject, the Catskills. Maybe it’s the feeling that this is a community space and so open to all, or the fact that this building used to be part of the town highway department and has a history with deep roots? Whatever the reason, it was so gratifying to see so many people, new to the area, folks that have been here for generations, weekenders, visitors… all coming to see this show and spend an afternoon together. That was ultimately the point of Sullivan Public and of this show. To create a space that is unifying and celebrating the ties that connect us,” said shop owner Jessie Lazar, reflecting on the opening.
