JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — Walking into the Maple and Rose boutique, the first thing you smell is dried flower arrangements, which brings an immediate feeling of nostalgia: For warmer summer days, but also for a cozy country kitchen with lavender undertones.
Maple and Rose is a new store that opened right after Thanksgiving in a soft launch; it is conveniently located on Main Street, offering even more warmth and charm in the downtown Jeff strip.
The store, owned by Christina Mgalaa, has an eclectic mix of jewelry, colorful clothing, art pieces and craft items from makers across the globe. And lots of dried flowers, which are also for sale.
A trained florist by trade, Mgalaa brings the same instincts she once used to curate floral arrangements to selecting the wares that fill her shelves today. Step inside, and the connection becomes clear: nothing is placed by accident, and everything feels part of a quiet, colorful whole.
Mgalaa sources many of her items from women-owned collectives and small-scale makers, treating each discovery like a rare flower she can’t wait to work into her shop’s palette. The result is a space that feels alive, especially with the dried floral art installations that Mgalaa crafts herself.
She also hopes to make fuller use of the shop’s outdoor space this spring and summer, hosting small community events and gatherings that let neighbors enjoy the same sense of connection and creativity that inspires her work inside.
You can visit Maple and Rose at 4919B Rte. 52 (Main Street), Jeffersonville, next to Tavern on Main, from Friday to Sunday; the shop opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. Follow it on Instagram @mapleandrosecountrychic.
