HONESDALE, PA — The Dime Bank donated $20,000 to United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania (UNC) through the PA Department of Community and Economic Development’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit program.
UNC utilizes this funding to operate Project Hope Day Camp—described as a safe, supportive environment where children from low-income families in the City of Scranton can learn, grow and thrive during the summer months.
The camp focuses on building essential life skills such as emotional regulation, mindfulness, physical activity and social connection. Open to children ages five to 12 from across Lackawanna County, the program offers enriching social, educational, recreational and artistic experiences that many would not otherwise have access to. Each camper receives nutritious meals and round-trip transportation to Camp Kelly in Tunkhannock, a scenic 60-plus acre rural setting.
“We are so grateful for our continued partnership with the Dime Bank,” said Lisa Durkin, president/CEO of UNC. “Their investment in Project Hope at Camp UNC in Tunkhannock helps ensure that children from the Scranton area have access to a safe, enriching summer experience that supports their growth, learning and well-being.”
