DEC announces temporary closure of Skinners Falls fishing access

Posted

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) on Friday, April 4 announced the temporary closure of the Skinners Falls Fishing Access Site along the Upper Delaware River in the town of Cochecton, Sullivan County. The site is closed to the public through May 2025 due to work PennDOT is conducting on the Skinners Falls-Milanville Bridge.

PennDOT is working to demolish the Skinners Falls Bridge; click here for more information.

DEC recommends river users launch from DEC’s Narrowsburg Fishing Access Site in the hamlet of Narrowsburg, or the Pennsylvania Fishing and Boating Commission’s River Access Site in Darbytown, PA.

DEC also encourages river users to avoid paddling, boating, floating, tubing, swimming, wading and recreating under and around the Skinners Falls-Milanville Bridge due to the ongoing bridge work. Please check the National Park Service’s Upper Delaware River website for the latest information.

For information about alternative recreation areas, visit DEC’s Find Places to Go webpage.

Fishing Resources

Anglers can use smart phones to find fishing opportunities around the state by accessing the Tackle Box feature in DEC’s HuntFishNY app. The Tackle Box provides one-stop-shopping for information on access sites, stocking, regulations and more. Information on how to download the app can be found on DEC’s website. Anglers are encouraged to check out these valuable resources when planning their next fishing trip.
