Data centers, parking concerns discussed in Tusten Town Board meeting

TOWN OF TUSTEN, NY — A Tusten Town Board meeting in the evening of Tuesday, April 14 heard comments from attendees concerned about data centers and parking for businesses.

After board members addressed an agenda of maintenance workers and highway stone bids, the floor opened for public comment.

“Is it true the state of New York does not allow data centers?” one attendee asked.

“They’re looking at the impact of data centers,” Jane Luchsinger, the deputy town supervisor replied, adding that on the Pennsylvania side of the border, data centers are being considered, which may affect Tusten as a result.

Leaders throughout the Delaware River have been looking at the impact of data centers. For more, see riverreporter.com/stories/delving-into-the-data,253633.

Another attendee, identified as Michael, brought up concerns about parking for businesses in the town. He commented that it is frustrating for customers to get parking tickets due to a lack of parking spaces.

Town supervisor Ben Johnson agreed that parking is a concern, and that space is limited.

The town board will meet again on May 12.
