Crash on Sunday on Old Liberty Road leaves 1 dead

Second passenger in serious condition following accident

MONTICELLO — On Sunday March 9, 2025, at approximately 7:30 pm, Sullivan County 911 received report of a vehicle being operated in an erratic manner northbound on Old Liberty Road, coming from the Village of Monticello.

Approximately 10 minutes later, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Patrol responded to a report of a one car motor vehicle accident with entrapment on Old Liberty Road, just north of Fraser Road, in the Town of Thompson.

At the scene deputies found a 2005 white Jeep Liberty that had struck a utility police and overturned. The driver, identified as Kenneth Miller, age 57, of Jeffersonville was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger, Kaylee Kearny, age 37 of Monticello, was flown to Westchester Medical Center by Life Net, where she remains in serious condition.

Sheriff Mike Schiff, who was at the scene, thanked Sullivan County Corner Alan Kesten, Monticello Fire Department, Monticello Police, State Police, Mobile Medic and Hatzolah Ambulance for their assistance.  The accident remains under investigation.
