HONESDALE, PA — The Wayne County Commissioners will play a game of bocce against Northeast Region Special Olympics athletes at the Park Street Complex, 648 Park St. on Thursday, October 8 at 2 p.m.
The event is in recognition of the newly renovated bocce courts, which were a part of a greater park renovation project through members of Wayne County System of Care. The majority of the funding for the bocce renovation project was provided by a grant through the Human Resource Foundation.
The game will also kick off a park-naming initiative in which people from the local community will be able to submit their ideas for what the park should be named moving forward. Anyone interested in watching the game, naming the park or just stopping by to check out the renovations is welcome to attend. Flyers for the November 1 Open Mic Special, to be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Wallenpaupack Brewing to benefit the Special Olympics, will also be distributed to attendees.
