WAYNE COUNTY, PA — There are lots of ways to find food that’s direct from local farmers, from roadside stands to farmers markets and beyond.
In Wayne County, the discerning consumer has another tool to use in finding local products and produce: the AgroLegacy label.
AgroLegacy, a project that came out of the Wayne Tomorrow! series of forward-looking taskforces, marks food and agricultural products as being grown or raised on farms in Wayne County. According to agrolegacy.org, there are 523 total farms in the county, totaling 90,504 acres of farmland.
“The AgroLegacy brand is one way we are preserving the business of farming in our community by providing local producers, processors, markets and eateries with a stronger voice and consumers with an easier way to support these businesses and their families,” reads information on the AgroLegacy website. “Wayne County is proud of its AgroLegacy and is working hard through Wayne Tomorrow! to secure a vibrant and prosperous industry as a legacy for generations to come.”
