There is a lot of talk about democracy these days. So it seemed fitting to reach back into history and explore what previous presidents have said about our system of self-governance. Johnson was focused on the whole of the system, and not the individual.

According to ballotpedia.com, "during his presidency, Johnson pushed for a legislative agenda he called the Great Society. Great Society legislation included the Medicare and Medicaid acts, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and the establishment of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. He also signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Johnson was also known for increasing U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War, which turned out to be his downfall.

democracy, Lyndon Johnson
