Build stronger bones

LIBERTY, NY —  BONE BUILDERS is an exercise program designed to help individuals aged 65+ maintain bone mass and build on existing bone mass but is open to anyone concerned about their health as they age.

Osteoporosis is a major public health threat for more than 44 million Americans, 80% of whom are women. A "silent disease," bone loss usually occurs without symptoms. People may not know they have osteoporosis until their bones become so fragile that a fracture occurs.

This program will feature light exercises with hand weights with instruction provided by our two trained CCE Volunteers—Joy Mendelsohn, MD and Linda Siegel.

Bring a water bottle, floor mat or towel, and your own 1- or 2-pound weights and invest in your health!

The first program will take place weekly on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to noon, from March 19-May 21 at the Western Sullivan Public Library, 19 Center St., Jeffersonville, NY in the Community Room.

A second series of classes will begin on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to noon from March 26 to May 7 at the Extension Education Center, located at 64 Ferndale-Loomis Rd., Liberty, NY.

Class size is limited and you may only register for one of these locations by going here, or by calling the Caregiver Resource Center at 845/292-6180 ext. 122, or emailing sullivancrc@cornell.edu.

The Caregiver Resource Center is a co-partnered program between Cornell Cooperative Extension and Office for the Aging of Sullivan County and is supported by a grant from the NYS Office for the Aging’s Caregiver Program, Your Trusted Resource of Choice.

Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County is an equal opportunity educator, provider and employer. Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County provides equal program and employment opportunities. Contact the office to request accommodations.
