Bresnahan’s suspiciously timed trades

Posted

According to NBC News, Rep. Rob Bresnahan dumped up to $130,000 in stock in four companies that manage nearly one-half of all Medicaid enrollees in the U.S. The four companies are Centene, Elevance Health, UnitedHealth and CVS. The trades were made on May 15.  Seven days later, on May 22, the House voted for the first time on the One Big, Beautiful Bill (“BBB”), which slashed funding to Medicaid by nearly $1 trillion to help pay for tax cuts. Rep. Bresnahan voted Yes.

I was one of many constituents calling Bresnahan’s office prior to his votes on the BBB. I was assured many times by his staff that the congressman would not vote for any final bill that hurt his constituents.  According to PA government estimates, 21,637 8th Congressional District residents (Bresnahan’s district) will lose Medicaid coverage.

As we now know, the BBB will severely impact Medicaid, and the congressman knew that too, as evidenced by his stock dump of those four companies.

In November 2026, we have an opportunity to show our displeasure with this hypocrite and limit him to one term.  Rep. Bresnahan sacrificed the health and well-being of his constituents to protect tax cuts for billionaires and millionaires (like himself). Let’s show him that we don’t think it was worth it.
