Bresnahan’s stock sales and Medicaid cuts

Thank you to Jane Creteau for her LTE, “The Cruel Funding Bill."

Her letter calls out the venal duplicity of Congressman Rob Bresnahan in voting for the disastrous Republican bill that will hurt so many of the neediest here in PA-08 and all over the USA—and in so many ways.

Despite his statements to protect his most vulnerable constituents, it may be just who he is that most propelled his hurtful vote.

On May 5, this multi-millionaire rich guy, Bresnahan, introduced legislation to prohibit buying/selling stock by members of Congress. This had the appearance of a congressional reform. But (OMG!) soon after, (May 15) he sold his personal shares in Centene Corp., a significant provider of Medicaid services. Then, on three separate House roll calls, he voted for the big ugly bill that would slash Medicaid and do so much damage to so many people—but offer him handsome financial rewards.

Can we act at the polls to correct this kind of malfeasance in 2026? We, in PA-08, should keep Bresnahan’s acts of treachery in mind. It is likely simply who he is at his core that causes the real problem with these repeated and most traitorous congressional votes.
