Bresnahan's office reviewing environmental funding for Delaware River

DELAWARE RIVER — The office of U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) is currently reviewing a proposed piece of legislation that would reauthorize the Delaware River Basin Restoration Program (DRBRP).

The DRBRP provides grant funding and technical assistance for the Delaware River,  and has led to a total investment of $172.1 million in federal and matching funds for conservation throughout the river basin. An act to reauthorize the DRBRP was introduced in February, with co-sponsors including Representative Josh Riley (NY-19).

"Representative Bresnahan’s team is reviewing the legislation to determine how will impact Pennsylvania’s Eighth Congressional District," said communications director Hannah Pope. "As with all reviews, these take time as staff conduct due diligence. Rep. Bresnahan looks forward to discussing the impact of this legislation with stakeholders from the district."

The Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed (CDRW) met with all Congressional offices representing the Delaware River watershed on Wednesday, March 12 to increase support for the program's reauthorization.  CDRW is made up of more than 190 organizations working throughout the five-state Delaware River Watershed to protect and restore America's Founding Waterway.

“The Delaware River Basin Restoration Program is a cornerstone of conservation, supporting projects that enhance water quality, restore habitats, and expand outdoor recreation opportunities. Reauthorizing this program will ensure continued investments in local communities, creating jobs, protecting fish and wildlife, and securing clean water for millions," said Grant LaRouche, CDRW Steering Committee Co-Chair.
