Congressman Rob Bresnahan’s campaign recently announced that he has earned the Republican nomination to run for a second term representing PA’s 8th Congressional District.

Bresnahan, a Luzerne County native and former electrical contractor whose grandfather was a 50-year member of the IBEW, has built a strong record in his first term championing northeastern Pennsylvania workers and families. That record has helped him earn the backing of a growing coalition of labor unions that have traditionally supported Democrats, including ATU, Boilermakers Local 13, IBEW Local 163, IBEW Local 1319, Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen, IUOE Local 542 and PA Laborers’ District Council.

He will face Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti, a Harvard-educated former Goldman Sachs wealth advisor and Obama-Biden administration official originally from Oregon, who is seeking to unseat him in November.

“Thank you to everyone who came out to support our campaign today. Northeastern Pennsylvania has always been my North Star, and I will never stop fighting for you,” said Bresnahan. “Together, we will defeat Cognetti and once again win in November.”
