The Bresnahan for Congress campaign responded to the fatal machete attack on December 9 in Scranton that left two people and a service dog dead and one person in critical condition.
“For years, Mayor Cognetti has minimized rising violence, limited the ability of police to enforce the law, and ignored clear warnings about gang activity and increased homicide rates,” said Bresnahan campaign manager Peter Brath. “This tragic double homicide is not an isolated incident, but rather a pattern of conduct by Mayor Cognetti where public safety has not been prioritized. The people of Scranton deserve to feel safe in their homes, at work, and in schools, and that is not the case on Cognetti’s watch.”
