The Sullivan County Coalition Against Antisemitism issued the following statement concerning the terrorist attack on Jewish attendees at the Chanukah celebration in Australia:

We are shocked and saddened to learn that innocent Jewish participants in a Chanukah celebration in Australia were victims of a horrendous terrorist attack. Though a world away, our hearts go out to the families of those killed, and we pray for a speedy and full recovery for those injured.

We are concerned that this latest assault underscores how vulnerable Jews are wherever they live. We pray that this shocking attack will underscore the need for respect for all faiths and religious observances.

The Sullivan County Coalition Against Antisemitism represents more than a dozen local Jewish organizations and Jewish houses of worship, joined in their commitment to combating antisemitism and hate in all its forms.
