Bernard W. Tenbus, 73, of Honesdale, died on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit in Dunmore, PA.
Born on October 8, 1952 in Honesdale, PA, he is the son of Helen A. (Allenbacher) Tenbus of Honesdale and the late James Edward Tenbus. For many years, Bernie worked as a mason.
Bernie’s passion for craftsmanship was evident in his work as a mason in the construction industry when he was younger. He was known for his quiet, friendly demeanor, and he enjoyed spending time in his garage, where he would often be found tinkering, welding and working on his tractor and vehicles. A committed son and family man, he enjoyed working around the family home.
In addition to his mother, Bernie is survived by his brothers: Michael Tenbus of Knoxville, TN; James Tenbus of Harrisburg, PA; Albert Tenbus and wife Sandy of Honesdale; and Larry Tenbus of Honesdale. He is also survived by his nephews, Greg Tenbus and Dylan Tenbus; nieces Traci Altman and Tami Tenbus; and several great-nieces and -nephews.
Following cremation, private services will be held at the convenience of his family. Arrangements by Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St., Honesdale.
