We have had a lot of activity with data center proposals coming to Wayne County, PA. As a result, many people are attending local township and borough meetings.
The need to attend and take part in these meetings occurs long before issues affecting us rise to the top. Decisions at the local level can include safety (e.g., road repairs, lighting), water supply, school quality, zoning and environmental impact, to name a few.
We need more people to attend our local government meetings regularly. Getting to know your local officials is important. You can share your views and provide input into decisions. It is also important to know the rules about who may speak and how to make comments. Attending a meeting gives you first-hand knowledge of the discussions and what the local government is or isn’t doing. You can learn how your elected officials voted on behalf of you, your friends and neighbors. This helps hold our officials accountable for their actions.
Our government officials work for us. Here are links to the Pike, Wayne, Orange and Sullivan County websites to get information about local government.
