New York State is delaying the implementation of the All-Electric Buildings Act. The act, which would prohibit all new homes built in the state from being constructed with gas hookups, is being delayed until a federal court makes a decision on its legality.
I am happy to see the state is coming to its senses and delaying the implementation of this unfeasible and unattainable plan. If we moved forward with all-electric houses, not only would we be on a collision course with rolling blackouts and higher electric bills, but many good-paying union jobs would disappear.
In the 121st Assembly District, many people currently rely on natural gas for clean, efficient energy that is more reliable than electricity.
I am sure the judges deciding this case will take the utmost care in making their decision, and I look forward to their ruling.
