NEW YORK — At New York Men’s Day during New York Fashion Week, ALIENANT declared war on the systems that assign human worth before we can define ourselves: money, power, politics, class, family expectation and inherited identity.
Founder and creative director Yuchen Han transformed a recurring childhood nightmare and his 2023 spiritual awakening into “A Glimpse of Divinity,” a 34-look SS27 collection about release, rebirth and self-authorship. At its center, special guest and muse Vivian Jenna Wilson carried a monumental grain of rice from Han’s dream through ALIENANT’s collaboration with Costway, turning inherited weight into the season’s defining image of rebellion and healing.
First, a nightmare
Before it became a collection, “A Glimpse of Divinity” was a nightmare. Growing up amid domestic violence from his father, Han felt alien to the world and kept asking: Who am I? Where did I come from? Why am I here? Where am I going? The fear returned in a recurring dream of a tiny ant carrying a grain of rice larger than a mountain.
In late 2023, a spiritual awakening changed the nightmare into a revelation. Han saw the ant as every human being and the rice as the burden accumulated through money, power, fear, desire, family expectation and social conditioning. “A Glimpse of Divinity” begins at that rupture—when pain reveals its meaning, the burden can be named, and inherited identity can be replaced by self-authorship. Han identifies as an alien soul and a starseed, with fashion as the language of that mission.
“I am an alien soul, and I am a starseed,” says Han. “Fashion is the language I use to transmit what I came here to do.”
Written in clothes
Across 34 wearable yet avant-garde looks, thorns turn pain into beauty and rebirth; angel hats invoke divine protection; 11:11 marks Angel Time; and the NOW symbol declares that Time Is Now. The Universal Citizen Passport rejects identity assigned by nationality, class or birth. ANTGEL—part ant, part angel—moves through a world of crawling ants, UFOs and an alien baby looking toward the stars beside a human child.
New York energy meets Chinese healing and Eastern spirituality through elements including lightning-struck wood. Together they form Star City and its Universal Citizens: a New Earth beyond borders and inherited hierarchy, where money no longer determines value, politics no longer determines belonging and suffering is not the price of worth.
The New Earth has already arrived. Welcome to the New Earth, Universal Citizen.
Carrying the weight
Through ALIENANT’s collaboration with Costway, Vivian Jenna Wilson entered the presentation as a special guest and muse. Han’s childhood and Wilson’s public rejection of the identity imposed by her father are different, yet both confront paternal power and the right to define oneself. When Wilson lifted the monumental grain of rice, she gave Han’s nightmare a new ending: his childhood symbol became her act of self-authorship, and the two stories met in an image of mutual healing.
Wilson also presented the ALIENANT × Costway art scarf “HOME: Wherever You Are, You’re Home.” Here, home is not an address, birthplace or inherited family structure. It is what remains when imposed identities fall away: the return to oneself. Wherever you are can become home. The truest home is becoming yourself.
