New York State Senate candidate Michele Frazier filed her first fundraising report in her race for the 51st District, which includes all of Delaware, Otsego, Schoharie and Sullivan counties, as well as parts of Broome, Chenango and Ulster counties. 

Frazier filed with $8,741.50 raised from 188 unique donors, qualifying her to unlock funds from New York’s public financing program in July. 

Over 90 percent of her donations came from in-district donors.

“I am honored to have so much support from voters in the district who are investing in the future of the communities of the 51st,” Frazier, a Democrat, said. “As I talk to folks from the cities to the most rural parts of the district, people are energized and excited for a representative who is focused on creating new opportunities and solving problems like improving access to care across the district, and making sure our public schools have the resources they need to provide the best possible education to our kids.”

Frazier’s campaign estimates that the funds raised to date qualify her for more than $85,000 in matching funds from the New York State Public Campaign Finance Program. 

“Public financing is a game-changer that makes it possible for a working mom like me to run a competitive campaign and spend my time talking to voters about the issues that matter most to them,” Frazier said of the program, which provides candidates running for statewide or state legislative office the ability to qualify for public matching funds based on donations of $5-$250 from residents in their district. Frazier is challenging Republican Peter Oberacker, who also registered to participate in the public financing program despite voting against the bill to fund it.

Frazier lives in Delhi, NY with her husband and three kids. She has received endorsements from the Chenango, Sullivan, Delaware and Otsego County Democrats, the Town of Middlefield Democrats and the Delhi Democrats.
