April arrived with a splash of rain (or lots of rain and snow), a burst of green and a whirlwind of activity. From the morning chirps of birds to the busy preparations of spring activities, there’s no shortage of energy this month.

Have a look at a few events and activities in our community and locally. 

A Wellness & Psychic Fair will take place on Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at JURNI Quantum Healing Center, located at 420 Bernas Rd., Cochecton, NY. Join others for a day of mystical magic, healing and wellness. 

This is a free event and the first 30 moms to arrive will receive a gift. Some offerings include hand-crafted delights, tarot readings, a pet communicator, psychic mediums, holistic practitioners, chair yoga, reiki, bone casting, reflexology and more. You can also tour this new woman-owned and operated healing center in Sullivan County.

The 2024 Health & Wellness Program will take place on Thursday, April 18 at 6 p.m. at the Cochecton Volunteer Ambulance Corps building, located at 70 County Rte. 116 in Lake Huntington, NY. The focus will be on health and wellness, as well as disease management and prevention.  The schedule includes a meet and greet and a giveaway. Beverages will be provided. The Sullivan West Elementary Drama Club presents “Annie Jr.” on Friday, April 19 at 7 p.m. at the high school auditorium. For more information, visit www.swcsd.org.

Stop by Country Bum’kin Antiques at the grand reopening in its new location on Saturday, May 18 at 11 a.m. It’s located at the corner of Routes 17B and 52 in Fosterdale, NY, in the Town of Cochecton. Peruse the new cozy store, which is filled to the brim with antiques and vintage items. A few of the vendors from its prior location will be part of the new version of the Country Bum’kin, giving you the diverse inventory you expect. Dig through the still-vast inventory to discover that perfect item to bring home with you.

Sullivan West pre-K and kindergarten registration dates have been announced. Registration and screening for pre-K will be held at the Sullivan West elementary campus in Jeffersonville, NY on Wednesday, May 8 and May 15. Your child must turn four years old on or before December 1, 2024. Registration and screening for kindergarten will be held at the elementary campus on Wednesday, May 22. For kindergarten, your child must turn five years old on or before December 1, 2024. Online registration is available on the district website at www.swcsd.org.
