Color Wars at Sullivan West

And upcoming events in the region

We attended the Sullivan West High School Color Wars, and it was an absolute blast! The energy was through the roof, with students decked out in their team colors, ready to compete and show their school spirit.

From the intense games to the funny skits, artistic banners and tasty cakes, there was never a dull moment.

Overall, Color Wars was an exciting experience that brought the whole school and community together in a vibrant display of camaraderie and school pride. We can’t wait for next year!

The weather was perfect for the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Jeffersonville and was a great hit. So many of our local children and families marched in the parade, as well as lining the streets. It is so great when the community comes together.

Girl Scout Troop Junior 356 & Brownie Troop 448 had an adorable float in the parade. Local 4-H groups, including Diehl Us In and Kenoza Lake Hummingbirds, did too. So did the Sullivan West student council, the Sullivan West Gridiron Club, the local Boy Scouts, Red Dog Football and cheerleading as well as numerous local businesses, fire departments and more, all participated in this local event.

Please be advised the New York State Burn Ban is in effect through May 14.

Spring break for the Sullivan West Central School District will run from March 29 through April 7, with students returning to school on Monday, April 8.

Have a look at a few events and activities in our community and region:

The Cochecton Men’s Club will host  its annual Easter Egg Hunt at 1 p.m. on March 30 at the Cochecton Men’s Club Sports Complex. Free hot dogs and treats—hope to see you all there.

There will be a penny social at the Lake Huntington Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 27. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.; calling begins at 12:30 p.m. There will be hot dogs and soda for sale. You’ll find many great prices and raffles, and fun for all.

Save the date for another exciting event—the Plein Air Lake Huntington event on April 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Step into the picturesque outdoors and unleash your creativity amidst the beauty of nature.
