Dressed in holiday style!

Whether you’re out hunting for that special holiday gift, or simply window shopping, it’s always fun to see the streets of our local towns lit up and decorated for the holidays. Be it lamp posts decorated with simplicity, or over-the-top whimsical store fronts festooned with color, strolling through Main Street, USA is always fun here in the Upper Delaware River region.

While wending my way through a variety of small towns, I stopped, admired and snapped a few photos along the way, and present a few of my favorites here (along with a delightful contribution from Barry Becker of Narrowsburg, NY’s River Gallery that fits in particularly well with our “Let there be light” theme).

Although slick roads have prevented me from visiting every town on my list, I couldn’t help but appreciate the decorations that I came across in Callicoon, Liberty, Monticello, Bethel and Narrowsburg, NY and hope that I have a chance to cross the river over the next few days and check out the stylish displays in Pennsylvania as well. Holiday décor is still one of my favorite things, made more special here in the Catskills by the hard work and loving attention to detail that our local businesses and houses of worship put in for all of us to enjoy.

Have you taken pictures of your favorite display? Send them to Jonathanfox@riverreporter.com, and I will happily share them on our Facebook page for all to see.
