CALLICOON, NY – The Callicoon Business Association, in collaboration with project partners, Callicoon Depot Inc. and the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway announce a public town hall meeting to discuss and gather valuable community feedback on the highly anticipated Callicoon Train Depot Visitor Center project. The event will take place on August 1st, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Delaware Youth Center in the Hamlet of Callicoon, NY.

Tim Bruno, General Manager of WJFF Radio Catskill will be facilitating the event. Tim's vast experience in hosting engaging discussions promises to create a meaningful and inclusive dialogue. Tim said, “I look forward to participating in this thoughtful community conversation about the Train Depot Visitor Center Project to understand residents’ attitudes, opinion and needs. As a Callicoon resident, I am particularly thrilled to see the Depot's revitalization as an appealing destination in the heart of the hamlet.”

This transformative project aims to restore the historic Callicoon Train Depot and convert it into a dynamic community asset. Working in partnership, the Callicoon Business Association, the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway and the Callicoon Depot Inc. are eager to present the community with project updates and discuss the future of the Callicoon Train Depot.

The town hall meeting will serve as an essential platform for community members to learn about the project's history, plans, timeline and details. Participants will have an opportunity to offer their insights and suggestions and to actively participate in shaping the future of the Callicoon Depot. The project partners are committed to creating a space that will not only house the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway Visitor Center but also serve as a versatile community hub for cultural, artistic, civic and educational activities, all while fostering a sense of community and regional pride.

A panel of project partners will be available to provide expert insights and answer questions:

  • Nicole Vallance, President of the Callicoon Business Association, will outline the overall project goals and its significance as it relates to local businesses and the community.
  • Wendee Greene, President of Callicoon Depot Inc., Development & Programming partner, will share details of the restoration process, timelines, current plans and some options for the activation of the train depot.
  • Richard Lowe, Chair of the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway, will discuss the importance of The UDSB having a dedicated Visitor Center, the choice of location, the collaborative efforts that have made this project a reality and its alignment with broader regional goals.

Together, The Callicoon Business Association, Callicoon Depot Inc. and Upper Delaware Scenic Byway will provide an in-depth understanding of the project's vision and potential impacts. They’ll answer questions and offer opportunities for community engagement. Your presence and input will be instrumental in steering the course of the Callicoon Train Depot Visitor Center.

Nicole Vallance, CBA President, highlighted the generosity of both Tim Bruno and the Delaware Youth Center, “Tim stepped up immediately when he heard that we were planning this event, and in recognition of the Callicoon Business Association's significant contributions to the community, the Youth Center Board has generously offered the venue for this important community meeting at no cost”. She went on to explain that this type of support underscores the inclusive and community-minded spirit that drives this all volunteer project.

The project partners are actively fostering collaboration with the greater community to help create a vibrant and thriving destination that will benefit generations to come. The Callicoon Depot Visitor Center Project Town Hall will be held on August 1st at 6 p.m., at the Delaware Youth Center, 8 Creamery Rd, Callicoon, NY 12723.
