LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY — It’s time to fly kites high and proud once again at the 31st annual SUNY Sullivan Kite Festival, to be held on Saturday, May 4 from 11 a.m. to  4 p.m.

SUNY Sullivan is busy preparing for this FREE, family-friendly community event that features professional kite flying demonstrations, candy drops, a live DJ, and inflatable bouncy houses for a day of family-friendly wind and fun. The first 400 children in attendance will receive free kites!

SUNY Sullivan's Kite Festival has fun for everyone: The Wind Wolves Traveling Kite Show returns with professional kite flier Kurtis Jones at the helm. Experience the whimsical thrill and dazzling excitement of the professional kite show right here at SUNY Sullivan's campus and enjoy all the fun-filled activities and tasty food vendors. The kids can enjoy free bouncy houses and other inflatables—FREE kites for the first 400 kids—while the adults check out the bountiful offerings.

Craft and food vendors will be part of the fun, including food trucks—Empanada Master, Cousin’s Maine Lobster and Catskill Mountain Corn—and food vendors to satisfy everyone's taste buds. You'll find Rell's Kitchen, Chestnut Creek Baked Goods, Lee Sacko's Funnel Cakes, Lemon Love and more.

Discover SUNY Sullivan Day

SUNY Sullivan is also hosting Discover SUNY Sullivan Day on Saturday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event invites prospective students to learn more about the college’s programs, tour the campus, gain instant acceptance for summer and fall classes, and create a schedule with an advisor.

Discover SUNY Sullivan Day offers prospective students the opportunity to see firsthand what makes SUNY Sullivan such a great place to learn. The event includes a presentation on SUNY Sullivan’s new Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), an academic support program for New York State residents who aim to reach their full potential. Campus tours will be available and staff from admissions and financial aid will be present to answer questions. Discover Day provides an opportunity for students to fill out a free application on site, and students who bring a transcript can apply on the spot and earn instance acceptance. Refreshments will be provided.
Prospective students can learn about the Sullivan Promise Scholarship, which provides Sullivan County residents who earn a high school diploma or GED in 2024 the opportunity to receive FREE TUITION AND FEES for one year of attendance at SUNY Sullivan. The Sullivan Promise Scholarship, now available for the 2024-2025 academic year, will cover the cost of tuition and fees for qualified students after all other federal, state, and institutional aid have been applied.

All of the four key steps to enrolling at SUNY Sullivan—completing the admission application, submitting a transcript, applying for scholarships and financial aid, and registering for courses with an advisor—can be completed at Discover SUNY Sullivan Day.
