Somerset Fly Fishing Show starts season

SOMERSET, NJ — Turn off the TV and pull on some wading boots, the annual Somerset Fly Fishing Show opens the 2014 angling season at the Garden State Exhibit Center, January 24 to 26.

The show venue, at 50 Atrium Dr., Somerset, will play host to a variety of all things fly fishing, with casting demonstrations, fly-tying, films, and the newest tackle and gear all pointed at tri-states visitors. Parking at the exhibit center is free.

Casting demonstrations and instruction is scheduled by Lefty Kreh, Bob Jacklin, Cathy Beck, Joe Humphreys, Steve Rajeff, Nick Curcione, Daniel Galhardo and Michael Mauri; fly tiers include Barry Beck, Ben Furimsky, Dave Whitlock, Henry Cowen, Bob Clouser, Dave Klausmeyer, Bob Popovics and Jacklin.

Seminars scheduled include presentations by Kreh, Barry Beck, George Daniel, Cowen, Jim Freda, Jeff Currier, Popovics, Tom Gilmore and John Shaner.

Among the 30-odd theatre presentations will be “Fishing Utah,” “Matching Major Eastern Hatches,” “The Upper Delaware” and more.

The 2014 International Fly Fishing Film Festival will debut January 24. Show admission costs $18 for one day, $28 for two days and $38 for three days. Film festival admission costs $15 or $10 with paid admission to the show.
