ROCK HILL, NY — Sen. John J. Bonacic made remarks at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 18 for opening of the Youth and Family Center as part of the YMCA of Sullivan County.

Bonacic helped secure a $500,000 grant to help move the project forward, which was awarded to the organization in 2012. The 3,000-square-foot education and recreation facility will offer a variety of youth programs ranging from outdoor education to the arts, drama and sports programs and school vacation programs in Sullivan County.

According to information on the organization’s website, “This facility will serve as an area for families to gather and enjoy the richness of the surrounding 155 acres complete with beautiful hiking trails, boating, fishing, workshops and interactive learning sessions on the environment, family nights and much more.”
