BEACH LAKE, PA — Charles Gabriel, 62, of Beach Lake, was killed on July 11 near 12 midnight in a two-car collision on Route 652. Garbiel was in a 1988 Ford pickup driving east, and according to Pennsylvania State Police he failed to negotiate a curve and headed into the path of an oncoming vehicle.

The pickup truck stuck the other car, a 2004 Honda Civic, then flipped onto its side and travelled off the road onto the berm.

The Civic spun around before coming to rest.

Gabriel was not wearing a seat belt and sustained severe internal injuries. He was flown to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

The Civic was being driven by Andrew Stevents, 40, of Honesdale, and had four juvenile passengers. All were wearing seat belts and sustained moderate injuries. They were taken to two different hospitals for treatment.
