From Sullivan County Manage David Fanslau:

Sullivan County travel restrictions that were issued at 9:00 PM Monday night remain in place. There are numerous roads that are blocked with fallen trees and wires, and public works crews will be addressing road closures throughout the day. In many cases, public work crews will need to work jointly with utilities crews to ensure power is off to wires down with trees.

About 30,000 locations throughout Sullivan County remain without power. Prolonged power outages will last several days.

As a result of the winds from Hurricane Sandy there are nearly 40 roads closed. Specific roads that are impassable - partial list: CR 11, 21, 33, 75, 153, 95, & 173. There are 30 roads that are limited but trees down. State Route 17B is closed from CR 183 to CR 55 in White Lake. Route 42N is closed from Forestburgh to the Orange County Line. Route 97 is closed in the Town of Tusten. Route 209 is closed from Route 209 to the Orange County line.

TO REPORT NON-EMERGENCY TREES DOWN ON ROADWAY CALL 845-807-0877. DO NOT CALL 911 FOR ANY NON-EMERGENCY CALL.

The public is strongly encouraged to remain indoors and off of the public roadways to permit emergency responders, public works, and utilities vehicles to work diligently on safely reopening the roadways throughout the County.
