At its meeting on March 28, the Tusten zoning rewrite committee unanimously voted to recommend that the town board approve the re-opening of the SEQRA process, including a public hearing, to make some additional changes in the ordinance passed late last year.

Among the issues still to be dealt with are rezoning of the school field on Kirk Road, zoning provisions related to driveways requested by the fire department to enable fire trucks to get to endangered houses, clarification of sections on camping that currently conflict with an old town law, and a number of requests from the new code enforcement officer, Gary Amerbach.

At the meeting, several members of the committee and Dr. William Pammer, who served as consultant last year, noted that the committee had not received detailed feedback from the previous code enforcement officer during the construction of the current ordinance.

Proposals to reopen the process and to recommend that Pammer be retained again as consultant were scheduled to be put before the town board on April 4, after this paper goes to press.
