Former school superintendent to be appoint Wayne commissioner

Wayne County President Judge Raymond L. Hamill has announced his intention to appoint Joseph W.Adams to the position of Wayne County Commissioner. The vacancy was created when Wayne County Commissioner Jonathan Fritz was elected to serve as State Representative for the 111th  Representative District.

Mr.Adams has most recently served as Superintendent of Western Wayne School District. He previously served as Senior Vice President, Wealth Management Area with The Dime Bank.

From 1988-2000 he was business administrator at the Wallenpaupack Area School District. He holds an MBA with honors from the University of Scranton and a Bachelor of Science degree, Magna Cum Laude from that university. He has contributed greatly to the well being of the Wayne County community as chairman of the Human Resources Center, Beach Lake and is a former board member of the former Pocono Lake Region Chamber of Commerce. He is a fifth­ generation Wayne County resident. He and his wife, Kathryn Scott Adams reside in Salem Township.

Mr. Adams offers congratulations to Representative-elect Jonathan Fritz and looks forward to working in concert with commissioners Brian Smith and Wendell Kay. "I am honored and humbled to be appointed to the Board of Wayne County Commissioners. They have managed our county resources with integrity and foresight. Iwill strive to work cooperatively with my fellow commissioners and county employees for the betterment of Wayne County and its people," said Mr. Adams.

Judge Hamill acknowledged that there were more than two dozen highly qualified individuals who sought the position. "We are very fortunate have so many capable individuals apply for this appointment. Ifeel Mr. Adams is highly qualified and can best serve the citizens of Wayne County."

It is anticipated that Mr. Adams will be sworn in as commissioner on January 5, 2017 when Representative-elect Fritz formally vacates the position.
