Sullivan Emergency Operations Center closes

Monticello, NY - Sullivan County Public Safety Commissioner Rick Sauer announced that as of 5 p.m. today, Friday, March 9, the County EOC (Emergency Operations Center) has closed. That is to allow members that have been staffing the EOC, some of whom still don’t have power at their houses, to tend to their families and needs.

The Sullivan County Division of Public Safety and County officials will continue to work with the utilities and the local municipalities with whatever needs they have over the weekend and beyond.

As of 2 p.m. today, there were still approximately 1,266 customers without power.  This number started the day at under 1,000, but utility crews needed to shut down some power grids in order to re-energize others.

Utility crews and contractors continue to work to restore power.  NYSEG has said they anticipate having most of their customers online tonight by 11:45 p.m. O&R estimates midnight tonight.

Now that some portions of the affected areas have power restored, communication companies (Spectrum, Frontier and Verizon) are working as well to restore their services.
