Middletown man arrested for sexual child abuse

On October 4, 2016, the Orange County Child Abuse Unit which is comprised of members from the New York State Police, Village of Goshen Police Department, City of Port Jervis Police Department and Orange County Sheriff's Office arrested a 41 year old man for the class B Felony of Rape in the First Degree, the class B Felony of Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree, the class D Felony of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, the class D Felony of Aggravated Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree, the class A Misdemeanor of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and for Violation of Parole.

State Police arrested and charged MANUEL CORDERO of Middletown, N.Y. following a report to the New York State Child Abuse Hotline. The investigation commenced in August 2016 in conjunction with the Orange County Department of Social Services - Child Protective Services. The investigation revealed that Mr. CORDERO had sexually abused a female child when she was between the ages of 6 and 11 years old while in the Town of Wallkill. New York State Parole will be filing charges on Mr. CORDERO for violating his conditions of Parole.

CORDERO was arraigned before the Honorable Town Justice PATRICK OWEN, Town of Wallkill Court on the charges and he was committed to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $150,000.00 cash bail / $ 450,000.00 secured bond, Mr. CORDERO’s return court date is October 7, 2016 at 2:00PM in the Town of Wallkill Court. An order of protection was issued by the Honorable PATRICK OWEN on behalf of the victim.
