Pine Bush woman arrested for striking autistic boys

The New York State Police at Middletown announce the arrest of Shirley Ellison, age 73, of Pine Bush, NY on July 16th, subsequent to an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Ellison is accused of striking two autistic boys, aged 8 and 13, with her hands during a bus trip from Pine Bush to The Center for Spectrum Services in Kingston.

Ellison was supervising the children at the time of the incident as a Bus Monitor. Ellison was charged with two counts each of Endangering the Welfare of an Incompetent or Physically Disabled Person in the first degree, and Harassment in the second degree. She was arraigned in the Town of New Paltz Court, and released on her own recognize to appear in Town of Ulster Court on July 22nd at 1:30 PM.
