On Thursday October 25th, 2013 the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested Christopher Freer, 30, of Liberty at an apartment on Orchard Street. Freer was wanted on a warrant out of the Town of Liberty Court for harassment in the 2nd degree following a domestic incident that had occurred days prior.
Police located Freer in an apartment on Orchard Street on Thursday morning. Subsequent investigation revealed that Freer, a registered sex offender, had been living at that apartment without registering the address with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services as required by law.
It was also discovered that Freer was operating a Facebook account under an assumed name without reporting it as required. Freer was charged with two counts of failing to register and verify as a sex offender, both felonies and harassment in the 2nd degree a violation. He was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to Sullivan County Jail with no bail and is due to appear on November 7th, 2013 back in the Town of Liberty Court.
