Monticello police arrested four persons at Number Four Greenview avenue in the Village of Monticello on August 8.

Arrested were Patrick Boughal, 36, Robert Sereda, 20, Alisha Purdy, 32, and Christine Carpenter, 24, all of Monticello. All of the defendants were charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree and criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument. Boughal was additionally charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon in the 4th degree.

At 9:20 a.m. Monticello police escorted officers from the Sullivan county probation department on a home visit of Robert Sereda. Sereda is currently on probation in Sullivan County and was staying with Boughal at #4 Greenview Avenue. Immediately upon entering the residence officers observed in plain view numerous hypodermic syringes and used envelopes containing heroin residue.

All the defendants were then taken into custody. Further investigation resulted in officers recovering dozens of used hypodermic syringes, various drug paraphernalia, heroin, anabolic steroids and a 12-gauge Mossberg shotgun. Boughal was charged with weapons possession because he has a prior felony drug conviction from 4/16/2007 in Sullivan county court and is barred from possessing any firearms.

Purdy and Carpenter were released on appearance tickets to appear in the village of Monticello justice court. Boughal and Sereda were arraigned before village of Monticello justice Josephine Finn. Boughal was remanded on $7,500 bail and Sereda on $5,000 bail to the Sullivan county jail pending further court action. Sereda is also facing additional charges from the Sullivan county Probation Department for violation of probation.
