Pennsylvania man arrested for getting New York benefits

Posted

On June 20, 2013, The New York State Police at Liberty arrested Paul Weeden, age 58, of Beach Lake, PA, for Grand Larceny in the third degree and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the first degree.

A joint investigation between the State Police and the Sullivan County Division of Family Services Fraud Investigation Team determined that Weeden had filed false paperwork with Sullivan County indicating that he was a resident of the county, when in fact he was living in Pennsylvania.

As a result, Weeden was able to collect $11,700 in public assistance benefits from Sullivan County while he was a resident of the State of Pennsylvania.

Weeden was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $1000 cash bail or $2000 bond.
